“The last thing sisters want to share is a cancer diagnosis.”
But that was the reality for Claire Nantes and her sister Maureen Garrity. Both have successfully battled breast cancer (Claire was diagnosed in 1999 and Maureen in 2005).
“It was a challenging time but the support of family, friends and the caring staff at the Cancer Treatment Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital made our journey bearable.
In the five years between our treatment, we were pleased to see significant improvements in the treatment provided at the QEH. The new linear accelerator for radiation therapy and the expansion of the Cancer Treatment Centre itself are significant advancements.
When you are going through an experience like this, you need to feel confident that you are receiving the best treatment available with medical equipment and techniques that are state-of-the-art.
Fortunately, new treatment options continue to be introduced and it’s imperative that PEI keeps up-to-date.”
