Whether you return to Prince Edward Island every summer or are visiting home for a short stay, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) is here for you. As your hospital away from home, we are proud to serve both year-round Islanders and those who continue to hold PEI close to their hearts, no matter where they live.
Seasonal Residents Summer Social
Each summer, we are thrilled to host a summer social, offering an opportunity to connect with seasonal residents and Islanders-away and share updates from their hospital away from home, highlighting the impact donor support is making at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The Gallant Family
Orthodontist Dr. Jason Gallant grew up in Hazelbrook, PEI and calls British Columbia his home where he resides with his wife and two children. Jason’s family, along with his siblings, had planned to return home later this summer to Cavendish for their annual family reunion.
Like many Island families, they had to make up for time lost because
of the pandemic. But a few weeks before Jason was to fly to PEI he received that phone call no one ever wants to hear — his mother had fallen and was transported by ambulance to the QEH Emergency Department.
Upon arriving home, Jason knew his mother Rosita was in critical condition with a broken cervical vertebrae, clavicle and concussion. Fortunately after several days of excellent medical care by the QEH staff and the love and attention from her family, Rosita began improving and her family and physicians became hopeful.
She continued her recovery during her two-week stay and amazingly was discharged just in time to attend the family get-together.
The siblings made a donation in gratitude for the excellent care and kindness their mother received from the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and all the auxiliary staff in emergency and Unit 3.
