QEH Foundation Celebrates Legacy Society Members and Their Lasting Impact on Island Healthcare

OCTOBER 15, 2026

New Glasgow, P.E.I. – The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation welcomed members of its Legacy Society to the annual Legacy Society Tea on September 16 at the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company. The event celebrates individuals who have chosen to leave a lasting legacy for healthcare by including the Foundation in their estate plans.

Honourable Catherine Callbeck, newly inducted member of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation Legacy Society, is presented with an exclusive lapel pin by Honourable Lieutenant Governor Dr. Wassim Salamoun during the annual Legacy Society Tea held September 16 at the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company.

The afternoon brought together Legacy Society members, Foundation leadership, and Their Honours, The Honourable Dr. Wassim Salamoun, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, and Her Honour Marie Salamoun-Dunne, to recognize the generosity and vision of donors whose future gifts will help shape healthcare for all Islanders.

Guests heard from Dr. Tim Fitzpatrick of the Department of Anesthesia, Pain Management & Perioperative Medicine during an armchair conversation that highlighted how donor support is making a difference in patient care today. The discussion focused on the provincial pain management program delivered at the QEH and the impact of Foundation-funded equipment, including a radio frequency ablation machine that is helping provide specialized pain treatment for Islanders closer to home.

The event underscored an important message for Legacy Society members: planned gifts are investments in a healthier future. By supporting the QEH Foundation through their estate plans, donors are helping ensure future generations have access to innovative equipment, advancing technologies, and continuing enhancement of patient care.

“Today is an opportunity to thank the QEH Legacy Society members in their lifetime for the impact they will make through their future gifts,” said Tracey Comeau, CEO of the QEH Foundation. “Their generosity reflects a shared commitment to ensuring Islanders continue to receive the very best care for generations to come.”

The Foundation was pleased to welcome several new QEH Legacy Society members during the 2025-26 fiscal year. During the event, His Honour Dr. Wassim Salamoun assisted in presenting exclusive QEH Legacy Society lapel pins to members in attendance, recognizing their commitment to the future of healthcare on Prince Edward Island.

“The Queen Elizabeth Hospital has touched the lives of so many Island families, including my own,” said The Honourable Catherine Callbeck, a new Legacy Society member. “A planned gift is a meaningful way to help future generations of Islanders. It is comforting to know that my planned gift will continue to support patients and families long into the future.”

The QEH Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to all Legacy Society members for their compassion, foresight, and commitment to advancing healthcare. Their planned gifts will help ensure the Foundation can continue responding to emerging healthcare needs and supporting innovations that improve patient care across Prince Edward Island.
