QEH Foundation Launches Friends for Life Campaign to Support Priority Cardiac Care Needs at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital

OCTOBER 29, 2026

Charlottetown, PE — The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation has officially launched its annual Friends for Life Campaign, supporting fundraising efforts for $8.2 million in identified medical equipment and clinical priorities at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Laura Lee Lewis, left, and Gail MacLean, right, of the QEH Auxiliary helped kick off the Annual Friends for Life Campaign by presenting their generous gift of $150,000 to Trevor Spinney, Chair of the QEH Foundation Fundraising Committee. Their commitment will fund two coagulation analyzers in the laboratory, an important step in cardiac care.

This year’s campaign will help fund essential cardiac care equipment across the ICU, ER, Internal Medicine, OR, Diagnostic Imaging, Cardio Respiratory, NICU, the Provincial Laboratory, and other areas of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. These investments include technologies that support diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, and patient care for Islanders of all ages.

“This campaign shines a light on the extraordinary care happening at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the life-changing impact donor support has on patients and families,” says Trevor Spinney, Chair of the QEH Foundation’s Board Fundraising Committee. “The Friends for Life Campaign is a vital annual campaign that exists to meet the needs of our Island hospital. Thanks to the generosity of donors across PEI, we can continue to support the care of all Islanders, right here at home.”

Every day, Islanders turn to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for care, comfort, and hope. Whether facing a new diagnosis, managing a chronic condition, or recovering from treatment, patients deserve exceptional healthcare as close to home as possible. For those facing heart-related health concerns, having high quality cardiac care is especially important.

“For those facing a cardiac diagnosis, timely testing and treatment can make all the difference during what is often one of the most challenging times of their lives,” says Dr. Kyle Murnaghan, QEH Cardiologist. “As cardiac care continues to evolve, so do the tools we rely on every day. From advanced cardiac monitoring and diagnostic technologies to fetal heart rate monitors for our tiniest patients, donor-funded equipment helps us provide the best possible care to patients of all ages.”

Every gift to the Friends for Life Campaign helps ensure healthcare teams have advanced equipment at their fingertips to deliver exceptional care when it matters most.
