QEH Foundation Reaches Historic $100 Million Investment in Healthcare Since 1984
Generations of community support have helped fund life-saving equipment, advanced technology, and better care for patients across Prince Edward Island.

Charlottetown, PEI – The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation is proud to announce a historic milestone: more than $100 million has been donated to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital through donor support since the Foundation’s inception in 1984.
The achievement reflects generations of generosity from Islanders whose support has helped equip QEH healthcare teams with life-saving technology, advanced diagnostic equipment, and improved patient spaces and programs that enhance care every day.
“For more than 40 years, Islanders have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting exceptional healthcare close to home,” said John Scales, QEH Foundation Board Chair. “This $100 million milestone belongs to every donor, volunteer, staff member, and supporter who has helped ensure that patients and families have state-of-the-art healthcare.”
It is a testament to the power of community giving and its lasting impact on patient care across Prince Edward Island. From supporting critical care and surgical services to enhancing diagnostic imaging and patient comfort, donor-funded investments have helped the hospital evolve to meet the changing needs of Islanders.
While the Foundation is celebrating this significant milestone, the need for charitable giving remains as important as ever. Since the majority of medical equipment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital continues to be funded through charitable donations, community support is essential for maintaining and advancing healthcare services at our Island’s largest hospital.
“As healthcare continues to evolve and demand grows, so does the need for community support,” said Tracey Comeau, CEO of the QEH Foundation. “This milestone is not the end of a journey. It is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together and a strong foundation for the work that still lies ahead.”
